Emily Blunt: Beauty Look of the Week – Bright Lipstick and a Bold Shirt

Who: Emily Blunt

Where: Front Row at YSL during Paris Fashion Week

Why we like it: Wearing a bright lipstick with a bold, jewel toned shirt was a risk (especially considering the high neckline) but Blunt pulls it off. Paired with a soft shimmering eye and sleek straightened hair, it’s easy to get at home but still packs a major punch.

How to get it at home: Start by preparing your skin with an illuminating tinted moisturizer or a very thin coat of foundation. You want your natural skin texture to show through to don’t go too heavy on the coverage. Cover any blemishes or areas of pigmentation with a product such as Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer Kit  $32, which has a pressed powder with the concealer to set and further conceal your imperfections without a lot of added product. A dewy, natural face can make you look youthful and glowing so forgo any mattifyers.

Next, apply a shimmering beige shadow such as Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Midnight Cowboy $20 to the upper and lower lash line, blending with your finger. The best thing about this product is that once you apply it, it doesn’t move… at all. You could rub your eyes all night long and it would stay in place, making it perfect for a night out. Along the upper lash line, apply a dark grey or black Kohl liner such as Sephora Collection’s Smoky Kohl Eyeliner $12. Blend it towards the outer corner and finish your eyes with a few coats of your favorite mascara. With this look, you don’t need color on your cheeks; if you feel uncomfortable going out with a bare cheek, take the lipstick you choose to wear, we suggest a bright orange red such as YSL Rouge Volupté in Red Muse $34, and smudge a bit on the back of your hand. With a light touch, blend it into the apples of your cheeks for a subtle flush. Finish off your look by applying that same lipstick to your lips.
