Spring Nail Trends: Scented Polish, Bold Color and More

Upon immediate application, I didn’t notice the difference. I sniffed and I got nothing – just good old-fashioned polish. But after a minute of drying, there it was: a bouquet of roses, potpourri…a garden party? Over the next three days, whether I was at the grocery store, in tree pose at Bikram yoga, or watching the new season of American Idol, I was (shockingly) able to smell my polish whenever my hands were near my face.

Snag ‘em while they last for $23 each at Dior.com. Yes, they’re pretty steep, but you’re paying for two beauty products for the price of one. And they’re limited edition, so we’re pretty certain they will sell out very soon. I, for one, will be sporting the lilac shade as a bridesmaid at my friend’s wedding in a few weeks. Who needs the actual bouquet for an hour when you can surround yourself with the scent all night? But if you still have sticker shock, then try the trend for a trifle with Revlon’s Scented Parfume Nail Enamel in Mad About Mango for $4.79 at drugstore.com

The Fashion Spot: What colors should I try this spring?

Taryn Multack: Tangerine and candy-colored hues inspired by the Prada and Louis Vuitton runways. Pair them with colored denim and a bold floral top for a standout effect.

tFS: What about nail art trends? Is ombre out?

TM: Not at all…it’s still in! Here’s an easy way for nail art novices to rock it: try 5 different shades of the same color family starting with the darkest shade on one finger (your thumb). Create the gradient effect by painting each nail in order with the lightest shade ending on the last nail.
