Emmy Rossum: Beauty Look of the Week

Who: Emmy Rossum

Where: Global Green USA’s 9th Annual Pre-Oscar Party

Why we like it: Orange eyes with a pink lip may seem like too much, but it’s the perfect way to add color during the spring. Less adventurous women can pick and choose elements of this look to brighten up their normal routine.

How to get it at home: Start by applying NARS’ Sheer Glow Foundation $42. This will give you good, buildable coverage as well as a luminous glow. Unless you have very oily skin, skip the powder for this look and keep a dewy finish. Cover any dark spots or blemishes with a concealer such as Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer $32. Groom your brows using Anastasia’s Brow Gel $21, which will give you definition without adding color. You don’t want to fill in your brows with this look because it could look harsh against the bright colors. Apply an eyeshadow primer such as Urban Decay’s Primer Potion $20 as this will ensure your color lasts all day. It’s important to use an eyeshadow primer when your eyes are a main feature because you don’t want the color moving or creasing.

Next, with a fluffy brush, apply Make Up For Ever’s Eyeshadow in Orange Coral Matte 5 $19. Play around with how much color you want, either opt for a light wash which will give you just a hint of orange, or go all out for a saturated bright eye. While Emmy is definitely wearing false eyelashes here, you don’t have to. Instead, try a volumizing mascara such as Buxon’s Buxom Lash Mascara $19 on the top and bottom lashes. A great way to minimize the impact of this look is to leave the cheeks bare, but if you want to go all out like Emmy, try a cream formula such as Stila’s Convertible Color in Fuchsia $25. Apply a very small amount of the cheeks and blend well. If you apply too much, take your foundation brush and blend it with the product left on the brush. Use that same color on the lips and your look is finished.
