Wet-look hair and greased black eyes have been showing up on catwalks here and there for the past few years but it looks like people are finally ready to accept it into the mainstream. Designers such as Alexander Wang, left, Just Cavalli, and Acne all showed their take on modern grunge so we can definitely expect more next season.

Seeing Red
After seasons of vampy purples, bright oranges, and pop art pinks, red lips are back and there’s a shade for everyone. For a brighter more youthful take on the trend, opt for an orange-red, glossy color such as this one at L’Wren Scott, left, but for a more mature version, look for a deeper matte shade that was shown at collections such as Givenchy and No 21.

Color Washed
This summer’s sunset eyes trend is creeping up but it seems brighter washes of color are here to stay. Most notably, Chanel’s big budget show featured girls, left, with shades of pink washed across their eyes and cheeks but Antonio Marras opted for a more outrageous emerald green.

Glossy Skin
We’ve moved past dewy, way beyond glowy, and onto glossy when it comes to skin. Seen at collections such as Dion Lee, left, Jen Kao and J Mendel, this trend is great for the runway but a bit more difficult to pull off in real life.

Blank Slate
Who knew there were so many shades of taupe? This overwhelming trend of colorless beauty wasn’t made up of fresh-faced natural-looking girls but instead their faces were washed out and painted blank slates of cream and beige. Designers such as Costume National, left, Bottega Veneta, Belstaff, Celine and many more, this look is aggressively neutral, if such a thing exists.
