Here's why we're loving the pin-up hair looks brought to us via the Spring 2013 runways : they lend themselves to a fast get-up-and-go routine; they're sexy and chic; they feel fresh and modern, not stuffy and overdone. The slightly messy vibe is perfect to try them out now (underneath our winter hats) and carry them right on through to the Brooklyn Flea this summer. Below is a savvy list of four top styles and our tips to create them.
Ultra Easy Pinup Styles For Today (and Tomorrow)
Scarf Style
An easy hair accessory can do you a world of good when it comes to a quick pin-up. Let's say you've got a day style that's looking a little worse for wear. Grab one of Grandma's silk scarves and fold it into a couple-inches-wide strip. Tie it around your head with the tail of the scarf slightly off to the right or the left. Use hairspray at the base (and a couple of bobby pins if necessary) to hold it in place. This is an adorable weekend brunch look we anticipate we'll be wearing more than once, especially after a late night out.

Oh, Beehive
Marc Jacobs is apparently a fan of the beehive because he used it in his eponymous line and at Louis Vuitton , too. His version feels fresh because it isn't too prim or perfect and isn't too big either. It happens to be an easy look for that "awkward" in-between length we've all been through while trying to decide the style of our next cut. Make a deep side part on your scalp and use a teasing comb to give the hair at the front and crown of your head a little volume. If your hair is long, pull the back into a pony and twist it up into a French twist look, pin in place. If your hair is on the shorter side, feel free to roll the bottom under and pin it in place at your neck.

The Knot
Top knots just keep getting more popular for street style looks — and more ubiquitous. Why not try a messy low knot? Marni did and we love the devil-may-care effect. Separate a section of your hair to leave out at the very bottom of your hairline. Pull the rest of your hair into a low ponytail and create a loop by not pulling your tail all the way through your elastic on its wraparound. Wrap the left-out section of hair around the hair elastic to disguise it. Use bobby pins to secure it.

Low and Loose
Simple, low ponytails were all over the spring runways. I mean, all over. For the most part, they were kind of meh, kind of boring. But at Rochas , they gave us a different story. Rather than pulling your locks into a low pony that's secured at the base of your noggin, use a hair elastic to loosely tie it together at the base of your neck, near your shoulders. The effect is a faux bob look from the front and a feminine "I'm sill wearing it down" vibe from the back.
