Date Night Inspiration: Amanda Seyfried’s Glittery Eye and Glossy Lip

Who: Amanda Seyfried

Where: The LA Premiere of Lovelace

Why we like it: Monochrome looks often feature neutral shades but we love this purple/pink look on Amanda. She balances the glitter on the eye with a glossy lip and her low-key updo keeps the focus on her face. This look is perfect for a night out or dinner party.

How to get it at home: Start with a foundation that is lightweight without being too sheer. We love Marc Jacobs’ New Genius Gel Super Charged Foundation ($48), which offers buildable coverage without cakiness. Add a bit of dimension back into the face with Too Faced’s Tan Without the Twinkle ($15) but don’t go too heavy as this is already a strong look that doesn’t need much more.

While it’s clear that Amanda hasn’t penciled in her brows, they have definitely had a bit of help. A gel, such as Benefit’s Gimme Brow ($22), has small fibers that help to build realistic-looking fuller brows in addition to managing the shape and is perfect for a look such as this where you want control without a dramatic arch. The most dramatic element of this look is the eyes, but they’re surprisingly easy to get at home. Start with a dark purple pigment that has some shimmer, such as Ardency Inn’s Modster Light-Catching Eye Powder in Purple Hearts ($32), concentrating the color on the outer two thirds of the lid and the upper and lower lash lines. Next, go in with a lilac or pink glitter, such as Make Up For Ever’s Glitters in Multicolored Pink 12 ($15), and apply it with a flat brush across the lid, focusing on the inner corner then under the lower lash line. Always start with a light hand when applying glitter because it’s easier to apply more than try to remove some. Finish off your eyes with a dramatic mascara, such as bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara in Intense Black ($18).

Because there’s so much going on up top, you can’t let your lips fade into your skin so try a gloss, such as YSL’s Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain in 110 Reckless Pink ($34), that will add just enough color to give balance and gloss to lighten up the whole look.
