Backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Show 2013 with Angels Karlie, Adriana and Alessandra

You think getting into the Marc Jacobs show is hard? Child’s play compared to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. I must have gone through four security checkpoints and had my ID checked countless times before finally getting my picture taken for a photo ID press pass. Then I had to place my handbag on the floor while a dog sniffed it — for drugs? For alcohol? For a gun? Is there a secret plot to kill Karlie Kloss? Who knows… A few more press credential checks later and I ended up in a huge room, draped in pink curtains at the Lexington Armory. Unsurprisingly, it was well worth the hassle and multiple flights of stairs.

While the first of two tapings of the show isn’t until 4 p.m., makeup and hair start at around 10 a.m. for all of the models. This year, the Victoria’s Secret Angels include Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosia, Cara Delevingne, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson, Behati Prinsloo and Karlie Kloss.

If you follow Adriana Lima on Instagram, you know that she’s been working hard to get in shape for the show. She elaborated, while waiting to get her extensions put in, saying that balance is key for her. “I make sure to eat a balanced diet and always drink a lot of water. Working out is also very important. Running, boxing, it’s important to sweat.”

The makeup team was lead by Dick Page this year and he did a fantastic job creating a sexy, but natural looking sultry look using Victoria’s Secret makeup. Victoria’s Secret Makeup Tinted Moisturizer & Primer SPF 15 was used on the face, the brand’s Eye Quad in Eye Contact, Eye Liner in Dark Chocolate ad Volume lift mascara were used on the eyes, while cheeks were finished with Victoria’s Secret Mineral Blush Duo in Starlet and lips were swiped with Color Drama Lipstick in Flawless. At Victoria’s Secret, however, it’s as much about the body as it is the face, so both received equal attention. Luminous skin was created using Beach Sexy bronzing and Runway Ready body care products.

As for the angelic tresses, they were the result of Orlando Pita and his team who used extensions, ghd tools and So Sexy Hair products to create the sexy and tousled waves.

In hair and makeup, all of the models wore bedazzled Victoria’s Secret robes and pink Old Navy flip flops before slipping into their custom designed outfits, wings and six-inch Nicholas Kirkwood heels.

Check out the show Tuesday, December 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS where you’ll also see the $10 million Royal Fantasy Bra created by Mouawad. The bra is handset with over 4,200 gems including rubies, diamonds, and blue and yellow sapphires, all set in 18K gold. The bra is finished with a 52K ruby.
