‘Shiny, Gorgeous’ Beauty on the Desigual Fall 2014 Runway

Golden eyes and bouncy hair perfectly epitomized the buoyant, bubbly feeling at the Desigual Fall 2014 show.

MAC Cosmetics Lead Makeup Artist Gordon E aptly summed it up backstage before the show when he said, “these are girls that have fun and they’re young and they’re fresh and they’re not using makeup to look prettier; they’re already gorgeous, they’re just using their makeup as an accessory to look cool.”

These girls, including Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton and Alek Wek, were definitely having a good time, and no one could blame them with the glimmering golden eyes they were sporting.

“There was an element of Baroque gold going on in the collection…and we wanted to kind of embrace that with the makeup,” he said. “We’ve used this gold metallic mixed with gloss and delivered in an almost amateur way. We sort of just schmeared it on the eyes so it doesn’t look like gold eye shadow. We want it to look like gold leaf or gold paint.”

Having marveled at it up close, I can say that the mission was accomplished. That kind of effortless, cool-girl vibe extended to the hair as well, according to Pantene’s Danilo.

“It’s a very textured hair,” he said. “What’s modern about it is it’s very tight and big and voluminous, but it’s undone and a bit rambunctious for a girl. It’s full, it’s brushed out — we want the frizz, the formation all together.”

Along with Pantene products like heat protectant, spray gel and their new dry shampoo, T3 tools were used for “that combination of the right stylers and the right styling products for big shiny gorgeous hair.”
