Delpozo Fall 2014 Beauty: A New Updo and a Fresh Face

With two of NYFW’s most beautiful and buzziest collections featuring precise, extreme side parts with highly-lacquered shine, the look is definitely becoming a solidified beauty trend. True, it could just be the power of suggestion after finishing off Saturday night with Alexander Wang and heading out to Delpozo first thing Sunday morning. But it’s interesting to see how a similar hairstyle translates to two very different collections.

Let’s be clear, the hair by Antonio Corral Calero, artistic director for Moroccanoil at Delpozo, was not nearly the harsh, caricaturish helmet of hair Redken created for Wang. But were we not fresh off the more dramatic look, the not-quite bun, not-quite-braid twists at Delpozo with super-slicked, super-shiny, tightly-pulled-back hair would look pretty extreme in their own right.

“The hair is beautiful, strong and dramatic,” Calero said. “The looks are smooth, sleek, asymmetrical and highlight pure, rounded geometrical form. It’s like a new way of doing an updo.”

Moroccanoil is obviously the perfect product for super strong and shiny hair, and its chic line of boar-bristle brushes helped smooth any flyaways.

MAC Cosmetics’ Monica Marmo created a makeup look “with a hint of future romance.” Key features were a fresh face, clear Lipglass on the lids and a pop-art pink cheek. The effect was a bit China doll come to life.

Pattie Yankee of Patricia Nail Lacquer crafted the ultimate metallic mani for the show.

“Inspriation for the nails was they wanted a mirror look on the nails because the clothes are so muted and gorgeous, so I created a custom metallic polish,” Yankee said.
