Beauty Trendspotting at NYFW: Sporty Ponytails

The sneaker trend has been a major hit amongst the fashion set, and it’s about time that the athletic look made its way into beauty. This season, it’s about making your ponytail look like you just left the gym. At Cushnie et Ochs, Antonio Corral Calero for Moroccanoil created a high pony, which was slicked back with a dry tail. There was a cool factor with the pouf that he created by using a clear elastic where the puffiness ended before pinning it to the back of the head. The tail was also kept dry at Alexander Wang, where Guido Palau went for a classic, athletic approach with a modern twist. Palau tied the pony at the nape of the neck after tightly combing back the front using gel at the crown of the head. At Prabal Gurung, hair was inspired by a strong, athletic and modern woman, so TRESemmé Stylist Paul Hanlon created a textured, finger-raked pony that sat at the nape of the neck, making models look like they just left SoulCycle.
