We’re always discussing the importance of washing your face when it comes to proper skincare. When it comes to cleansers, right now we’re into creamy, rich cleansing balms that moisturize our dry winter skin in addition to serving their main purpose. The process involves massaging the balm onto the skin before adding water to emulsify, and then using a muslin cloth (which is usually included with most products) to rinse off. Think of the sometimes waxy-textured (but totally soft) cleansing balm as a more pampering way to wash your face to remove dirt, oil and makeup, while indulging skin with the much needed hydration it requires this time of year. The jar-encased balms are also packed with essential oils — ingredients that are not common among regular face washes — to help transform skin into purified and silky-soft, without stripping it of its moisture.
Below are four formulas we currently love to use — they feel luxurious, and leave skin feeling refreshed and dewy.
