Jennifer Lopez Perfects the Art of Marsala Makeup

Jennifer Lopez is wasting no time incorporating the Pantone Color of the Year into her makeup look. The American Idol judge wore the wine-colored hue on her lids, lips and cheeks over the weekend. The monochromatic look worked effortlessly with Jennifer’s beautifully bronzed complexion and voluminous ponytail. Here’s how you can rock the Marsala look, too.

  • Eyes You will undoubtedly need to use the multiple shades of Marsala found in the Sephora+Pantone Universe Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette (available in stores). The limited-edition palette features 24 shades that complement the color of the year — including the color itself — in matte, shimmer and pearl finishes. Define eyes by lining them with your favorite eyeliner, making the line on the thick side, but not going overboard with its shape — keep it simple and straight, so that the eyeshadow pops.
  • Lips The earthy mix of red and brown is a flattering color that works great on all skin tones, but is still bold enough to be a focal point of the look. For a less daring approach, try a toned-down version like Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Strip; otherwise, go all-out with the pigment-packed Kevyn Aucoin Expert Lip Color in Dantrice.
  • Cheeks Complete the look by dusting cheeks with Tom Ford Cheek Color in Savage. Delicately sculpted cheekbones will pull the whole look together.

Clockwise from the top: Sephora+Pantone Universe Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette, $39; Tom Ford Cheek Color in Savage, $57; Kevyn Aucoin Expert Lip Color in Dantrice, $35
