What’s awesome about Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons is that they’re creamy and moisturizing, so they feel great on my lips. There’s no need to layer on a balm first since the formulation includes shea butter, kendi oil and jojoba oil. Most importantly, they’re lightweight, so even if I’m going out for a long run or doing an intense round of kickboxing, I won’t be distracted by my makeup. Better yet, not only does it feel like there’s nothing on my lips, but my go-to color for day, Carolina Coast, blends naturally with my lips so it’s easy to apply on the run (see what I did there?). It’s not a crayon in a traditional sense since it doesn’t need to be sharpened, but the crayon shape makes for a unique applicator that’s hassle-free, even if you don’t have a mirror handy — just swipe and go.
The lip crayons are not only perfect for day, there are enough shades to add a little drama for evening. I happen to like a matte finish, but you can easily layer on a little gloss for added shine. Post-gym or for a night out, I love Hawaiian Smolder because it’s enough to wake up my whole face no matter how pale and tired my skin looks, so I don’t actually need to wear a lot of makeup.
A little bit of foundation, some concealer, a swipe of blush on each cheek, a dash of mascara and a little bit of shadow finish off the look. It’s quick, painless and very simple. I keep everything as neutral as possible so that the focal point is really my lips. It’s a perfect pulled-together, but fuss-free, night look.
