Blue makeup was all over the Fall 2018 runways, Ultra Violet is the official Pantone color of 2018, we are obsessed with all shades of pink, and we’re never going to give up classic beige and brown. But there’s a new #trending makeup color that has shown up for spring and it’s the brightest and most unexpected shade of them all. Yes, we’re talking about yellow.

Poor yellow is easily the most ignored color in our eyeshadow palettes — and that’s if it’s featured at all. Even experimental beauty lovers tend to turn a blind eye to the cheerful shade, focusing instead on greens, oranges and even reds. Suddenly, all that has changed. Maybe it’s the sunnier weather or the fact that we’re bored with brown, what we do know is that yellow eye makeup has been blowing up on Instagram. What’s more, Maybelline is about to drop the Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette and Kylie Jenner released a Stormi-inspired Kylie Cosmetics Weather collection featuring a shocking yellow eyeshadow in her Eye of the Storm Kyshadow Palette. Coincidence? We think not.

Yellow is here and it’s time to embrace it. We know it’s bright, but that’s the appeal. Whether you go for a sunny lemon hue or something more mellow, like mustard, gold or flax, a shot of yellow can wake up the face faster than a radiant concealer and a really good red lipstick. Ready to embrace the sunshine? Take a cue from the runways and try one of these chic ways to wear yellow eye makeup.
