CoverGirl Is Now the Largest Beauty Brand to Go Cruelty-Free

As major fashion brands strive for more environmentally friendly and sustainable practices, beauty brands have also been in the spotlight when it comes to environmental ethics, particularly concerning testing on animals. CoverGirl just happily revealed that it is Leaping Bunny-certified, therefore guaranteeing that all of its products are cruelty-free, making it the largest beauty brand to earn the certification.

“It signifies a shift in the industry,” Ukonwa Ojo, CMO of Coty Consumer Beauty (Covergirl’s parent company), said to Teen Vogue. “If a global brand like CoverGirl can make this happen, we think a cruelty-free future is a possibility. It’s our mission to help eliminate unnecessary animal testing from the industry, and our certification is the first step in this change.”

There’s no need to wait until the certified animal cruelty-free products are available, as all CoverGirl products on shelves right now are cruelty-free. The Leaping Bunny mark will be placed on all products by winter.

Not officially released but sent as a reply to inquiries on Twitter, CoverGirl stated that it will be releasing a list of its vegan products soon, so consumers will easily be able to shop cruelty-free, vegan products.
