The 8 Prettiest Fall Makeup Trends 2019 Has to Offer

Fashion month has something for everyone, whether you’re into beauty, fashion trends, street style or all of the above. Those who tune in to the shows to see what makeup artists dream up are going to be excited about the inspiration from Fall 2019. The fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris featured stunning makeup looks.

The makeup teams continued to expand the definition of winged liner with flicks of all shapes, thicknesses and colors. Next, there were eye makeup looks that featured two striking details. Just one would have commanded ample attention, but the combination took it to the next level. We’ve dubbed it “one-two punch makeup.”

We had to look closely to notice it, but barely-visible eyeliner was also a makeup trend. Something that we didn’t have to look quite so hard to notice were the statement lashes. They often had a 60s vibe that would make Twiggy proud.

A painterly makeup application was seen at various shows. The looks ranged from splodges and dabs of eyeshadow to more editorial looks with blotches and color drips. In keeping with the extra mood, there was a generous sprinkling of glitter and diamantés at fashion month, proving sparkle isn’t going anywhere.

Lips often took a back seat to eyes. When kissers were the statement (or co-statement), the timeless beauty of red lipstick was celebrated. Rather than a true red, a deeper, more autumnal crimson shade held particular sway. The finish of lip colors was also key. A stained look was a favorite to create a just-bitten vibe.

A rich red lipstick is the perfect accompaniment to fresh skin, as evidenced at Helmut Lang. Makeup artist Susie Sobol used Maybelline Made for All Lipstick by Color Sensational in Red for Me ($7.49) with Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss in So Hot ($6.99).

Chalayan served up 90s-style lips with a burgundy lip liner encircling an understated crimson lip color. The softer finish played into the Popsicle-mouth trend.

A slick of warm red lipstick was the only color used on the face at Salvatore Ferragamo. Other models received burgundy or fuchsia kissers.

The gold eyes with ruby red lips at Luisa Beccaria oozed regal beauty. The makeup didn't go unnoticed, even when models were wearing tiaras and veils.

The eyes definitely had it at Halpern, where makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench created a disco watercolor effect by applying bold pigments with layered gold leaf. Try the look at your next big celebration.

Ashish showcased the visual definition of glitterbomb with its sparkling makeup courtesy of Isamaya Ffrench. The makeup wiz dusted two shades of MAC Cosmetics Glitter on lips and three shades on eyes. Black glitter was sprinkled on brows for definition.

Shimmer isn't restricted to loose sparkle. The Marco De Vincenzo show gave us a beautiful reminder with diamanté faux freckles. Remember the look for festival season.

As much as we love to pile on glitter, makeup artist Peter Philips made a case for using some restraint at Dries Van Noten. The dusting of sparkle didn't overpower eyes.

Look closely to see the super skinny black liner at Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini. The delicate eyeliner was enhanced with a touch of smudged shadow.

Makeup artist Janeen Witherspoon used Mehron mixing mediums to create the look at Bora Aksu, but a silver liquid liner, like the Laura Geller Line-n-Define Dual Dimension Eyeliner in Platinum ($24), would achieve the same effect.

At Roksanda, makeup artist Miranda Joyce for MAC Cosmetics showed the versatility of berry lipstick by applying it in varying intensities. This stained tint was the less-fussy version.

The electric eyes at Chromat took inspiration from the neon swimwear. Makeup artist Fatima Thomas for MAC Cosmetics blended zingy shadows from the outer corners into the hairline. A final sweep of contrasting eyeliner made it more extra.
