Save Your Lashes! Long-Wearing Mascara That Is Not Waterproof

There are many things that you stop taking for granted once you hit a certain age. One of those things is the ability to wear long-wearing mascara without loosing a handful (or more!) of your lashes.

But the truth is no one wants to lose lashes, no matter their age.

Lash tints are a great way around this issue, but if sitting in a chair every other week with your eyes shut for 15-20 minutes isn’t an option, here’s a look at three truly long-wearing mascaras, that aren’t waterproof, that will come off seamlessly without leaving precious lashes behind.

Chantecaille Faux Cils Longest Lash Mascara, $74

Brace yourself for sticker shock, but if you’re looking for a mascara that goes on and off like butter, you can’t beat Faux Cils Longest Lash. It’s truly in a league of its own. No matter how you remove it, it will come off easily without smudging while you’re actually wearing it. Given that staying power, it’s fitting that it’s a makeup artist favorite. It has been worn on the red carpet by Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor Joy, Emma Roberts, Michelle Williams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Weisz, Thandie Newton, Emily Blunt and Jen Aniston to name “a few.”

Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara, $30

Estee Lauder is one of those rare brands that can be consistently counted on for amazingly well formulated mascaras. This one not only has staying power (they claim 15-hours), but it doesn’t clump or smudge and, despite not being waterproof, it holds up fairly well to tears/allergies. Plus, the wand is great to separate out lashes to make them look longer and darker.

Lancôme Le 8 Hypnôse Serum-Infused Volumizing Mascara, $32

If, in addition to long-wearing mascara that doesn’t make you loose lashes, you’re looking to boost the health of lashes, checkout this serum-infused option from Lancôme. The unique wand allows you to use the 8-shaped side to build volume, while the flat side allows for sculpting/lifting.
