Today's WWD reports that VMan handed over its Spring Issue to the very capable former Paris Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld.
Slated to hit newsstands February 14, Carine's issue of VMan boasts a Nick Knight-photographed cover of actor Tahar Rahim. In a relatively unexpected twist for the longtime model champion, Roitfeld mostly cast the magazine with "real people"—non-models like chefs, artists, actors, even a fireman—"as if imagining a dinner at her place," quips WWD.
She made an exception on the real people front for a pinup calendar populated with supermodels (to your right, you'll see Adriana Lima as "Miss July").
But there's a juicy twist: way back at the end of October, forum member Alien Sex Friend told the Cover Rumors thread that she'd met Carine Roitfeld LIKE, IN PERSON and the fashion industry queen spilled the beans about her upcoming guest editorship of VMan. Kudos, Alien Sex Friend! You were so right.
And since her VMan prediction bore out as fact, it wouldn't be unreasonable to take some of Alien Sex Friend's other intel just a little more seriously than most anonymous internet gossip. The longtime forum member reported that in addition to guest editing VMan, Carine would be styling a portion of an upcoming Purple issue and she'd already booked model Saskia de Brauw for the gig.
Carine has a cozy relationship with Purple mag's Olivier Zahm, so a stint at Purple doesn't seem like a stretch. On the other hand, Alien Sex Friend also predicted that Carine's VMan would mostly be photographed by Mario Testino—which definitely didn't happen. So like all rumors, this one's nothing to get excited about until it's confirmed. (But just between you and me, I think it'll be confirmed.)
