Vogue Thailand in 2013? (Forum Buzz)

Vogue China May 2012 - Arizona MuseWill Vogue Thailand be hitting newsstands in 2013? According to a translation from a Thai newspaper by Fashion Spot forum member AnemonefisH, it’s a distinct possibility. He reported that Elle Thailand’s Editor-in-Chief, Kullawit Laosuksri is working with Condé Nast to put the magazine together, and that he will likely shift from Elle to become Editor-in-Chief of the new publication.

“I'm thrilled about this news, but kind of on the fence at the same time,” AnemonefisH posted. “We already have our own versions of Elle, Bazaar and L'Officiel, but they all reprint almost every cover and go nowhere far from boring. I'm worried Vogue Thailand might go the same route given that the Elle Thailand guy may take charge on this.”

Psylocke commented, “Sounds kind of random but maybe it will work. Vogue Netherlands sounded like something that was going to be amazing and the first issue was a complete letdown, whereas I would never have expected Vogue Turkey to be any good and it's become one of my favorite Vogue editions, so who knows. However,” she cautioned, “I agree that even more magazines that are just a re-print galore are really not needed, especially when you can get your hands on the original material anyway.”

The potential for a new creative outlet is always exciting, so with any luck Vogue Thailand will be able to produce some interesting original content, and maybe we can admire a cover or two from across the world thanks to the magic of the internet. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can look at the May 2012 Vogue China cover with Arizona Muse. Squint and pretend the writing is actually Thai, and try to imagine what the debut cover might look like.
