Just like Vogue Australia stuck with local talent to help shift copies of its December issue, Vogue Brazil enlisted one of its own for its festive holiday edition. As reported on our forums, Gisele Bündchen closes out 2015 with Brazilian Vogue and stars on not one, but two celebratory covers for the occasion. Photographed by legendary makeup artist turned photographer François Nars, the current face of Chanel N°5 wears outfits by the French fashion house on both covers.
Forum members immediately called the covers over-styled and could barely recognize Gisele. “From the thumbnails I first thought it was Cate Blanchett and Kate Moss. My bad,” laughed Creative the moment the covers struck. “She looks like Madonna and Kate Moss on the first cover,” added MDNA.
“She doesn’t look very beautiful, I am not feeling it,” an underwhelmed gossiping contributed.
Phuel was left disappointed, too, echoing, “Gisele looks bored/depressed. The results are amateur and pedestrian. All the great elements are there: Gisele and Chanel. But the poses, the lighting and mood are totally DOA flat. It’s more department store catalogue (the first cover)/drugstore flyer (the second cover) than Vogue Brazil high fashion.”
Feeling the same way was narcyza: “For me, this styling and makeup look so bad on her. Bad end of the year for Vogue Brazil.”
“I absolutely despise that hard strobe lighting. It flattens everything, it’s so unflattering,” slammed dfl-001.
