Dree Hemingway, Birgit Kos and Others Star in Miu Miu’s Cinematic Resort 2017 Campaign (Forum Buzz)

The holiday period is upon us and we’re already starting to see the campaigns for the resort/cruise season. Michael Kors gave us Anja Rubik, Jessica Chastain held her own as the face of Prada and now it’s Miu Miu’s cinematic Resort 2017 campaign to land on our forum’s radar. Models Dree Hemingway, Cecilia Chancellor, Birgit Kos, Faretta Radic and Sara Somogyi take a midnight stroll around the streets of Rome with photographer Alasdair McLellan behind the lens and Katie Grand on styling duties.

Members of our forums actually liked what they saw. “This is already much better than the Fall campaign,” declared anbale32 the moment the campaign struck.

“I actually like this, very moody, and the lighting looks great! Great for Birgit Kos,” championed Benn98.

Sharing the same enthusiasm was dior_couture1245: “These are FABULOUS. Birgit Kos is to-die-for here. Never seen her before but she is so gorgeous. I love the sort of candid, party arrival look of the pictures…very fresh, very chic. Also, I am so surprised they were able to pull out such beautiful pieces and style this so well considering what an absolute mess this collection was in the lookbook!”

“So good to see Cecilia Chancellor and wow Birgit is such a star in this!” Lusanne raved.

Also a fan of the casting was lelaid. “Happy to see Dree, she’s perfect for Miu Miu IMO,” he pointed out.

Yet Miuccia’s choice of models wasn’t to everyone’s taste. “Imagine how much more effective this would be as a single model campaign with whoever the short-haired model is. Dree looks so out of place,” disapproved HeatherAnne.

Marc10 wasn’t much of an admirer either: “I quite like the pictures, but I simply can’t see them as a Miu Miu campaign. The last two especially could be from Salvatore Ferragamo or a Harper’s Bazaar editorial, it’s so commercial-looking it hurts. Just compare this to the campaigns Jamie Hawkesworth was doing in the past years. Katie [Grand] completely erased this brand’s identity.”
