Joan Smalls Channels Her Inner 70s Diva on Two Covers for Vogue Brazil’s June Issue

Brazil is firmly on our radar right now, having just celebrated its 42nd anniversary with a trio of bold and unforgettable covers. Moving swiftly on, the Brazilian title taps Joan Smalls for June 2017. Magazines can always rely on Joan Smalls to deliver fantastic covers and to receive the coveted seal of approval from our forum members. Appearing on two 70s-inspired covers, the current face of Michael Kors wears head-to-toe Gucci in cover one (below) and works Replay (for which Joan is also the face of this season) in the second cover, both shot by Zee Nunes.

Forum members professed their love for the covers immediately. “Loving both these covers,” declared TeeVanity, setting the tone for comments to follow.

“I love both covers. Joan is amazing, a real top model,” raved narcyza.

“She is giving face on these covers – I love them. Zee Nunes has done some great covers for Vogue Brazil,” forum member 333101 praised.

Legolas liked what he was seeing too: “Poses, face, light, layout, all is on point. Great job this month!”

DutchHomme simply said, “Awesome covers!”

“I LOOOOOVE the Diana Ross-esque look and Naomi Campbell vibes and all, but I wish her eyes were stronger, she looks a little dazed and lost in my opinion,” stated Bertrando3.

Also noticing the evident Diana Ross inspiration was Benn98. “Uneventful. None of these intrigue me, the styling on the first one actually looks quite budget. A waste of that nice Diana Ross wig,” he said, disagreeing with the majority.

“The first cover (above) I thought it was Naomi Campbell! Otherwise, I like the second cover (below) — more glamour and less childish than the first one,” reasoned GivenchyAddict.
