US Vogue Special Edition Met Gala 2018 : Katy Perry & Rihanna by Corey Tenold

Do Katy Perry and Rihanna Deserve Vogue’s Met Gala Special Edition Cover?

Along with the annual Met Gala follows Vogue‘s ‘Special Edition‘ issue documenting the star-studded event and, in true American Vogue fashion, the magazine unsurprisingly gives up the front cover to Vogue favorites Katy Perry and Rihanna (who is the publication’s current June 2018 cover girl). The image, taken at the gala by Corey Tenold (and also appearing online during the event), shows Katy posing in her Versace ensemble (angel wings et al) and Rihanna standing confidently in custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano.

Given the many other high-profile celebs the magazine could have selected (we feature 101 of them here), our forum members weren’t all too impressed. “The people who actually looked great got ignored once again. Incidentally, I happen to think these were two of the worst looks of the evening. Who would want to invest in a bunch of images which one could easily source online anyway?” asked Benn98.

“Katy Perry looked awful that night…. dress was way too small, boots were ridiculous and the angel wings were a mess! Can’t believe they put her on the cover with Rihanna,” fumed Handbag Queen.

“Even if Katy’s outfit was smarter and better produced, her disgusting childish behavior and posing would’ve ruined it. I personally can’t get over how awful this haircut looks on her either. Wasn’t she on the cover of last year’s special as well?” questioned aracic.

Also not feeling Vogue‘s choice was forum member ivano, pointing out, “Blake Lively deserved that cover!”

“Yep, she was the best dressed of the night,” agreed zacatecas570. “Katy’s outfit was TERRIBLE!”

A.D.C won’t be in a rush to the newsstand either. “They need to call this a Costume Ball, real fashion is no longer part of it,” he slammed.

“The decade we are living in will be counted as the most awful and trashiest decades of all,” Srdjan declared.
