There are two things we want when it comes to the covers of our favorite glossies: diversity (of course) and a cover subject who isn’t overexposed. InStyle‘s new issue is ticking all the boxes as Laura Brown brilliantly taps Janet Jackson for the October 2018 cover. Jackson joins Oprah, Serena Williams and Jennifer Aniston as cover stars under Brown’s tenure. Photographed by Robbie Fimmano and styled by Julia von Boehm, the legendary American entertainer looks like she just woke up from the best sleep ever in the delightful and radiant newsstand cover (below).
Like so many of Jackson’s songs, the cover was a hit. “I love this, and I’m not even a Janet fan,” confessed kokobombon the moment the cover struck.
“All these October covers are truly shaping up to be way better than September! Such a beautiful shot of Janet! She looks fresh-faced and so approachable – no need to laze around in black lingerie. I’m not even bothered by the lack of fashion. Laura Brown really delivered this time around,” Benn98 applauded.
“Beautiful, always happy, and surprised when she gets the cover. Only because magazines so seldom use her as the cover girl,” Miss Dalloway praised.

In the same frame of mind was forum member jorgepalomo: “I wish people (and the media) give her the attention that she deserves!”
“Gorgeous cover! Love when Janet lands a cover, which is always so shockingly rare,” said mepps.
Fiercification couldn’t have agreed more: “It’s such a nice surprise to see her on a cover again, and it’s beautiful! She’s such a legend.”
“That’s a lovely cover. Her smile looks so genuine,” admired 333101.
