Where’s The Magic of Meisel in Versace’s New Model Mania Campaign for Spring 2019?

After she stunned front-row attendees by strutting down Versace’s Spring 2019 runway, we aren’t at all surprised to see Shalom Harlow star in Versace’s latest advertising campaign. The legendary 90s supermodel (and current Vogue Italia cover girl) is joined by a host of other Donatella favorites, including Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti, Rianne van Rompaey, Imaan Hammam, Adut Akech, Kris Grikaite and Blesnya Minher. Shot by Steven Meisel in front of a gray studio backdrop, the Spring 2019 campaign looks a lot like the Spring 2018 campaign.

According to our forum members, the campaign needed a whole lot more than Shalom Harlow and Steven Meisel. “Great to see Shalom but that was one hideous collection and I’m not sure even a supermodel can save it,” commented dodencebt the second the campaign struck.

“I can’t with these studio shots by Versace, come on, give me atmosphere!” complained GERGIN.

“Ugh, here we go again with the revolting camp and kitsch! Meisel back at Versace has been a disappointment from the start,” Benn98 said.

Marc10 echoed the sentiments: “Sadly Meisel is not bringing the magic, same as last season.”

Also feeling majorly unimpressed was forum member cottonmouth13, writing, “As much as I want to love this because it stars my favorite Shalom, I could not bring myself to. I feel like her casting was put to waste cause we have this kind of result. Sadly, Meisel was not inspired enough.”

“OMG this is beyond awful, what a waste of Shalom’s talent. Seriously, and please do not throw in Adut, Gigi and Vittoria thinking it will make it better. We’re all sick of this,” slammed Riseup.

“Oh wow, what a disappointment so far. I literally can’t. Everything is just SO wrong… (about the solo shots). Bella looks SO stiff. Literally a robot,” laughed guimon.

Scotty wasn’t into it either: “Ugh, seriously! I know I’m a biased Meisel fan but please try to do something new. I’m so disappointed. Versace was the ad I was waiting for all season!”

“What the hell is happening with Meisel! Where’s the magic? Where’s the sexiness? Where’s the inspiration? This is beyond sad, the collection was tragic and even more so is the campaign,” thatsfierce complained.
