Fendi S/S 2019 : Anok Yai, Adut Akech & Kaia Gerber by Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld’s Final Campaign for Fendi Features Kaia Gerber, Adut Akech and Anok Yai

When our forums got an exclusive first look at Fendi’s Spring 2019 advertising campaign, we could never have imagined it would be Karl Lagerfeld‘s last. The legendary fashion designer was the creative director of the Italian fashion label (alongside Silvia Venturini Fendi) for over 50 years and served as photographer for just about every Fendi campaign. For Spring 2019, Lagerfeld selected models Kaia Gerber, Adut Akech and Anok Yai as the faces of the utility-inspired collection. The trio posed in front of a clean white backdrop at Lagerfeld’s Paris-based studio, with Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall on styling duty.

Per usual with a multi-girl campaign, certain models steal the spotlight with the others fading into the background. “Kaia’s cute, but here, she needs to sit down out of shot and just watch the other girls work, in every sense of the word,” commented tigerrouge.

“Adut is such a star! And she and Anok form such a good pair. The addition of Kaia is so unnecessary for this campaign,” said mikel.

“I like Kaia, but she’s miscast in this. It should have been Adut and Anok only. They are more than enough. What a strong duo,” guimon said.

Vogue28 agreed, writing, “Absolutely love how wonderfully Adut Akech and Anok Yai have both photographed for this. As much as I love Kaia Gerber… Adut and Anok deserved this campaign on their lonesome.”

[Piece Of Me] shared the same sentiments: “Adut and Anok look truly fabulous!”

“I agree that Anok and Adut are extremely charismatic and beautiful in this campaign, with amazing endless legs. They leave a strong impression – it’s much better than the previous season,” credited Morgane07.
