Vogue España June 2020 : Laura Dern by Alexi Lubomirski

Laura Dern Scores Her First-Ever Vogue Cover

Women over 50 are steadily becoming regulars on the covers of all the editions of Vogue. At 85, Judi Dench is currently fronting British Vogue. Now Laura Dern makes her first Vogue cover appearance ever at the age of 53. Vogue Spain received tons of praise for last month’s beautiful illustrated cover. For June 2020, the American actress wears a polka dot Michael Kors Collection dress picked by Patrick Mackie for the Spanish fashion bible’s chic black and white image captured by photographer Alexi Lubomirski.

But Laura deserved better, at least according to our forum members. “A classic scenario for me here: curious and excited to read the thread title, but pretty much disappointed when I saw the visual. Laura looks miserable,” pointed out an underwhelmed Srdjan.

“Yikes, this does not look comfortable. She looks stressed,” added MON.

“Lubomirski is a horrible photographer. I can’t believe he is still being hired,” avonlea002 chimed in.

Also not impressed with the outcome was phungnam96: “This is like a cover story from ELLE, not Vogue.”

“One of those cookie-cutter, close-up covers that could be printed on any edition for any month. Laura Dern is already a tough sell for me and the fact that she’s not making direct eye contact and the nondescript styling just make this cover more generic,” critiqued Benn98.

KINGofVERSAILLES wasn’t into it, either. “Laura’s beauty and power as a performer simply do not translate to print. It’s one flop after another when it comes to her magazine appearances.”
