Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott Give Gucci Its Best Campaign in Years

Despite putting out several buzzworthy collections at Gucci, Alessandro Michele’s advertising campaigns often fall off our radar. The storied Italian fashion house’s last set of ads that captured our attention was back in 2018. Now thanks to a change in photographers, the brand’s Fall 2021 offering is somewhat of a smash hit. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott snap Italian rock band Måneskin alongside an impressive lineup of models. We’re talking Branko Roegiest, Cheikh Niang, Emily Kasten, J Moon, Kristen McMenamy, Lamich Kirabo, Nabou Thiam, Pleun Keijsers, Solha Park and Victor Norberg.

Members of our forums are definitely impressed. “Oh, I love this. It’s kind of a throwback to old Gucci ads, but the sexual charge still speaks to Alessandro’s aesthetic. Very clever booking Måneskin, too. They have the edge to sell it unlike other Gucci faces like Harry Styles,” noted Marc10.

“This is probably the best campaign under Alessandro. A good balance of the sexy Gucci and his Gucci,” MyNameIs pointed out.

“Really interesting that Alessandro chose to collaborate with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. They did a superb job of fusing their own aesthetic with Alessandro’s I have to say. It’s one of Gucci’s best campaigns in recent years…” agreed Frederic01.

KINGofVERSAILLES is clearly a fan: “Really happy with this. Weird, dark, sexy, glamorous, kind of cultish is what works best for this iteration of Gucci. None of that Harmony Korine nonsense.”

“This is really good, sexy but very edgy,” voiced zacatecas570.

“By far my favorite campaign this season. For today’s standards, this is amazing!” heralded guimon.

“This is one of the best campaigns I’ve seen in the past years. Magnificent,” raved dontbeadrag.
