Vogue Poland Celebrates Pride for June 2022

Poland is one of those fashion titles that shines a spotlight on different social topics. Recently, the Polish fashion bible has highlighted women’s abortion rights with a series of bold and powerful Anja Rubik covers plus paid homage to the people of Ukraine. For June 2022, the publication focuses on pride by showing support for the LGBTQIA+ community with two significant and barrier-breaking covers. For cover one (below), Judyta Mliczek and Julia Alicja Sobczynska embrace, while creative duo Kacper Godlewski and Dominik Rosinski do the same on the second cover (after the jump). Both images were snapped by Stefan Heinrichs.

The covers sparked discussion on our forums. “Sad that they’re very much the same as Vogue Italia’s September 2017 covers,” noted fangora.

“I saw on Instagram several people spraying and destroying the posters of the covers on the streets…” voiced Xone.

“Eastern Europe is not known for being remotely tolerant of the gay community so I’m surprised by these covers (I hope everyone who works there is safe from any awful backlash). Thank goodness the progressive ones are making bold statements with magazine covers like these. I hope this helps open peoples’ minds,” shared iriswills.

“I do commend Vogue Poland always lending a voice to social topics and causes. Perhaps, however, these covers would’ve had more of an impact had we not already seen something similar on Vogue Italia,” commented vogue28.

“It’s wonderful!” exclaimed Silkspring.

“Gorgeous covers,” raved crmsnsnwflks.
