Rumor: Kanye Thinks He Can Get Kim Kardashian & Baby Their Own Vogue Cover

Just want to preface everything I’m about to tell you concerning Kanye West’s alleged ambition to get Kim Kardashian and their baby on the cover of Vogue with a disclaimer: Anna Wintour is clearly not going to put the maligned reality star (with child!) on the cover of Vogue; Vogue is about aspiration and most of its readers don’t want to be like Kim (does she have actual fans? omg she does). Pop culture has an infinite supply of improbable hypotheticals that would delight me if they ever did occur (like if Karl Lagerfeld came out as a furry), but this is not one of those if-only! situations. If Vogue ever ran a cover with Kim Kardashian, it would destroy the fabric of the universe in an irreparable way … I don’t even want to consider the aftermath. It’s true that Kanye West is a special kind of egotist, but despite his rather embarrassing foray into fashion (although I actually have some sympathy for him on that front, since some of the objections had a vaguely classist tinge to them), people seem to forget that he’s an immensely successful recording artist, and he never would have achieved that level of success without some degree of savvy or sense.

But apparently, or at least according to RadarOnline.com (which has one of the saddest backstories in the whole history of Internet publishing), Kanye has been pestering Wintour to run a cover with Kardashian and the couple’s child.

“It’s no secret that Kanye is a huge fan of fashion, Vogue and especially Anna Wintour,” a source close to the musician told RadarOnline.

“But it’s also pretty well-known that Anna is NO fan of Kim or any reality star appearing in the pages of the magazine. Kanye is determined to make sure baby North isn’t photographed by paparazzi then splashed across the world. He knows what he wants — a professional photographer and the cover of Vogue – nothing else. But clearly, trying to persuade Anna is going to be an uphill battle.”

(West has reportedly referred Wintour to a recent WWD article which names Kardashian as Cosmopolitan‘s best-selling cover star of the past year.)

According to the account, Wintour is “non-pulsed.” Yes, RadarOnline meant to say she was “nonplussed,” but it’s much funnier to imagine West’s proposal caused Wintour’s heart to literally stop beating, that the thought of Kim Kardashian on one of her precious Vogue covers made the fashion editor just keel over and die.
