Is the Alexander McQueen Retrospective Going to the UK?

The critically-acclaimed, record-breaking Alexander McQueen retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute is closed to the public, but it appears that the exhibit might be moving across the pond.

The show's organizers have revealed that they're in talks with major museums in London, but there's some hesitancy to reinstall the exhibition in a new space. The Savage Beauty curator designed the retrospective specifically for the Met, and he's expressed some concern that the aesthetic experience may not translate well to a new space.

McQueen's London deserves to see the the exhibit, but I understand the curator's reservations: the UK is not very good at public displays of fashion. Exhibit A: The garish display of Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen's wedding gown. Even the Queen was creeped out by it, and if McQueen's creations get the same treatment, the late designer will be rolling in his grave.
