Raf Simons is Leaving Jil Sander — Is He Going to YSL or to Dior?

Back in December, a series of reliable reports indicated that the Belgian designer was in negotiations with Dior, and close to finalizing a deal with the French couture house.

According to some of those December reports, Simons was also approached by Yves Saint Laurent. Stefano Pilati‘s contract is due to expire in March (in just a few days!) and the brand’s executives weren’t sure whether or not they’d extend it.

Some people on the Internet say it’s possible that Jil Sander herself will return to her namesake house, but HintMag offers a convincing explanation as to why that would be unlikely: the designer has already stepped down from Jil Sander twice in recent decades, both times due to conflicts with past and current Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli (Prada held a majority stake in the fashion house). Sander and Bertelli tried to work out their differences twice—and failed twice. And everyone knows: when it comes to business of style and the business of love, third time’s definitely not the charm.
