Royal Inspiration for Your Winter Wardrobe Courtesy of Kate and Pippa Middleton

It seems like the Middleton sisters love the fact that they can influence the nation’s fashion choices and consequently cause a surge in sales for their favourite fashion retailers just by wearing a few current items. Plus, if we’re being honest, the British public equally loves the fact that it’s so easy to go out and purchase garments that make us look like our favourite fashionable royals!

So, this week, we’re guessing that many of their fans were just a tad disappointed in seeing both of the girls out and about in items from last season. Yes, we know that when the sisters aren’t playing princesses in Alexander McQueen ball gowns that they’re sometimes prone to a bit of wardrobe recycling (which warms our little hearts knowing that they are a bit more like you and me), but come on, we’re getting ready to buy our winter wardrobes and we still want to emulate their styles, so, seeing them in last season’s buys just isn’t very helpful right now. Here’s hoping that they pull out a few newbies over the coming weeks, but until then, all we can do is be inspired by their last season gems.

Duchess Kate in Reiss

Earlier this week, Kate visited the Football Association’s National Football Centre with Prince William wearing last season’s long khaki green coat by Reiss for the occasion. This coat is the perfect piece for following the military trend, and although the coat in question is obviously no longer available to buy, Reiss is currently selling an updated version for £325 (below left), which we dare to say would make us more on-trend than the Duchess herself.

Pippa in Catherine Deane

Since being photographed at her friend’s wedding in one of the Hong Kong-based designer’s orange dresses, it seems that Pippa has begun a real love affair with the growing designer’s pieces. This week, she was papped again in a Catherine Deane dress, which we must say, did look a lot like that famous orange dress. Now, all of these items are (unluckily for us) sold out, but thankfully, her new A/W collection is now available to buy at Harvey Nichols and My Wardrobe online. We think that this orange ruched silk dress (below right) has Pippa written all over it, so snap it up before she does!
