Listen to Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young & Beautiful’ for ‘The Great Gatsby’ Soundtrack

Here’s Lana Del Rey‘s contribution to The Great Gatsby soundtrack, which will also include performances by Will.i.am, Beyonce, The xx and so on.

“Young & Beautiful” is notable because it’s more than just a typical Del Rey song, it’s the purest possible expression of the form. It’s a melancholy love song, sung huskily for all your moping in bed needs, but its refrain is what really gets me: “Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful?” The ultimate (and maybe only) #LanaDelReyProblem. (It’s also thematically appropriate to the film.) [via Billboard]

I really hope she keeps making music forever, so one day we get an answer to the question. Del Rey will no doubt always be beautiful, but if she wants to keep living, she’s going to have to get older. It’s a requirement or something. And I’m looking forward to seeing what’ll happen when she outgrows her ingénue act. Without her youth and beauty to hide behind, maybe she’ll fall in love for real.

Or maybe she already is, not my call. For your time, a duet cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “Summer Wine,” which was released a few days ago. It features Del Rey’s boyfriend, lead singer of the band, Kassidy, Barrie-James O’Neill
