Pink Tartan’s Collaboration Binge Continues…

The first pairing came back in October 2012 with the Pink Tartan x ALDO RISE collaboration for Spring/Summer 2013. This particular collab was both suitable and expected given most label’s tendency to branch into footwear. Plus, as far as Canadian shoe stores go, ALDO was the most obvious choice. But fast-forward a year and we come to…

Pink Tartan x Tide Pods. Sure, I see the connection between beautiful clothing and wanting to keep it so fresh and so clean, but this September 2013 campaign was a little more on the nose. You see, for the collaboration with Tide, Pink Tartan designed a 10-piece capsule collection of streamlined looks that were fully washable. A “washable wardrobe” may have been a first for PT, but teaming with a laundry detergent kind of took away the squeaky sheen from the novelty. But we’re not yet done…

Next up, PT has teamed Keurig brewers, those single cup coffee makers that offer oh-so-many choices. What could a luxury clothing brand possibly have to do with a coffee maker? Well, Kimberley Newport-Mimran has now designed a limited-edition collectable designer cup for $19.99. I will give credit that profits from the mug will go to Toronto’s East General Hospital, but why Keurig? I fail to see the connection and just hope Tide pods remove coffee stains in case of spitting out my surprise on a wearable PT shift. In the meantime, do you recall any other strange design collaborations? Like that time Kate Moss worked for Sushi Box…
