Lucian Matis and Coco Rocha Celebrate Yorkdale’s 50th Anniversary in Style

When Yorkdale opened its doors for the first time in 1964, it was the largest shopping centre in the world and, fifty years later, it still stands apart. Now in 2014, Yorkdale plans to celebrate 50 years in style with special events, special guests and special anniversary-edition must-haves created exclusively by brands and labels. One such collaboration was recently tweeted by Toronto label favourite Lucian Matis, who has designed a very special dress to commemorate Yorkdale’s gold centennial.

Modelled by fellow Canadian Coco Rocha (a Yorkdale campaign favourite), just check out this opulent gold silk and lace bodiced gown, a custom creation that heralds the luxury of Toronto’s largest mall and makes the fierce model look like Queen Midas. Eagle-eyed shoppers will also notice that the image has been shot in the stairwell running between the subway and the mall, albeit with a slightly Photoshopped golden makeover to correspond with the anniversary tally. 50 has never looked so good!
