Strateas.Carlucci Wins VAMFF National Designer Award

Now they have extra reason to be watched closely, having just won the Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF). The prize package includes $10,000, a trip to New York and a private meeting with the Tiffany & Co. design team, and a one month pop-up store at Westfield Doncaster.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t know much about the rising duo, they only established their label two years ago after working together on streetwear label Trimpee, and bravely made the decision to do so in Paris before setting their sights on the Australian market. Fellow homegrown talents Kym Ellery and Collette Dinnigan have also found success in Paris, but only after spending years putting down steady foundations back home. The boys are known for quality leathers (their jackets use kangaroo) and a monochromatic palette.

The duo were also finalists in the Australian division of the International Woolmark Prize, and are one of three designers up for the BT Emerging Fashion Designer Award this year.

The National Designer Award recognises emerging designers who excel in creative design and quality and demonstrate potential for growth. Fellow finalists included Vul (VIC), Christina Exie (VIC), Haryono Setiadi (NSW), Livia Arena (VIC) and Pageant (VIC).
