All the Details on Pharrell’s New Fragrance with Comme des Garçons

To say Pharrell Williams has been keeping busy these days would be a gross understatement. He just released a new solo album, Girl, is working on collaborations with Adidas, G-Star Jeans, Uniqlo, Moncler and possibly Google Glass. Now, he’s releasing a fragrance with Comme des Garçons called “Girl.”

Despite its gender-specific nomenclature, the scent is actually unisex. Fitting, as Williams sometimes borrows from the girls to create his own looks: at the time he sat down with WWD to do an interview about his fragrance launch, he was wearing a knotted strand of Chanel pearls.

The fragrance has a woody smell, which Pharrell specifically wanted. The producer says he hugged Collete Paris founder and creative director Sarah Andelman at Art Basel a few years ago, and got a whiff of what she was wearing. “‘What is that?’ and she told me, Wonderwood. And from that moment on, I was just in love with what Comme [des Garçons] did.”

Housed in a colorful bottle designed by House + Holme, emblazoned with artwork by Williams’ artist friend Kaws, the scent contains top notes of white pepper, lavender and neroli.

The fragrance is set to launch September 1, with prices ranging from $30 for a travel-size version and $135 for a 100-ml. bottle.
