It’s difficult to keep up with everything Melbourne legends Mischa Hollenbach and Shauna T. do as schizophrenic duo P.A.M. If you did you’d be really tired and poor all the time, because one minute they’re designing clothes and the next they’re throwing parties and it’s very hard to say “no” to it all.
But one thing definitely worth your dollars: the new girls-only collaboration they’re rolling out with streetwear label Carhartt and shoe guys Vans. We’re not sure who approached who first, but like with a boozy hookup that blossoms into a beautiful romance, that seems almost irrelevant. This was meant to be.
The cohesive capsule is heavy on soft denim, featuring both chambray button-ups and a pair of dark denim overalls I’m really not hating. There are also printed t-shirts and baseball caps for those who like their jeans without shoulder straps. The Vans input comes in the form of a limited edition P.A.M. x Vans x Carhartt WIP shoe.
P.A.M. have a long list of previous collaborators, including acclaimed American artist Mike Kelley (‘Little Friend’ – PAMTOY), avant-garde fashion designer Jun Takahashi of Undercover (‘Black Mass’ Lamp), EYE from the Boredoms (poster series), Super Sunglasses, as well as music projects with 2ManyDJ’s, Matt Edwards (Radioslave) and Thomas Bullock (Rub’n’Tug). But this one is makes their convoluted aesthetic a little more masses-friendly.
The collection will be available in select stores and Carhartt WIP Thursday. Make sure to hit the launch party that night for some beer to help your sore wallet.
