Etsy Hits the Road for Canadian Tour

Thelma & Louise, the Griswolds, Smokey and the Bandit — the classic cross-country road trip has become a quintessential mark of summer. There’s nothing quite like packing your vehicle up for the long haul and stocking your glove box with boiled candies that turn sticky after two days, am I right? Now joining the league of extraordinary journeys, Etsy Canada will be embarking upon its own eight-day tour, to bring kitschy sellers and their one-of-a-kind pieces to a city near you.

Beginning August 1, Etsy will travel around in a 30-foot custom Airstream trailer, hitting up various parks and locales that will be “Etsy-fied” (which I believe means transformed into a Wes Anderson set). The first stop will be Montreal’s Olympic Park (August 1 and 2), as a part of Montreal’s #firstfridays. Visitors there will be able to shop handmade clothing and statement accessories from Noémiah, grab a hand-drawn card or print from Kristy Boisvert, or pick a handmade sterling silver piece of jewelry from The Angry Weather.

Ottawa’s LeBreton Flats will be the next port of call on August 4, where folks can meet local Etsy seller, Burrowed by Caryne, whose upcycled clothing has been re-sewn into fashion-forward pieces. Next up is Kingston (August 5), where you can shop and mingle with Kingston-based sellers here&now, Nicole Tarasick, as well as Salvage Jewelry Co., who creates jewelry incorporating upcycled scrap metals and vintage components. Lululemon will also be on hand for a free afternoon yoga class.

Finally, Etsy’s last stop will be downtown Toronto on August 8 and 9, where you can pick up a festival-favourite flower crown from Jordan de Ruiter, browse the show-stopping neckties and bow ties by Handsome & Lace and hunt down accessories made from found, limited-edition textiles from Grace Designs travels.

You can check out the full itinerary by clicking here, but I must say, I’m a little disappointed that the trailer isn’t heading over to either the East or the West Coast. Maybe this could be a future trip for Etsy to plan? Get on it, guys!
