We’ve spoken about our love for United Nude’s innovative shoes in the past, and who can resist such an endearing backstory? Armed with a broken heart, co-founder Rem D Koolhaas turned his architectural knowledge to shoe design in the hope of winning his ex-girlfriend back. It’s got Facebook written all over it!
Just in case you’re not familiar with United Nude, however, the brand creates innovative and geometrically interesting shoes and has become known for extreme collaborations with the likes of Iris van Herpen. Let’s not forget that the brand was also invited to make a shoe for Lady Gaga’s Fame perfume launch. Remember the sky-scraping black heel boots embellished with little gold men? It’s hard to imagine how anyone could walk in a 12-inch heel, so Lady Gaga, we salute you!
At the weekend, we were invited to view United Nude’s Fall 2014 collection at its Covent Garden boutique. As the drinks flowed, DJ Garibay hit the decks and we were in awe of the rows of shoes illuminated by entrancing lights. It felt more like a cross between a gallery and a club than a shoe shop.
This season, we were pleased to see that the company added to its collection with heels like the Sera Bootie, as well as casual shoes with an architectural twist. Creating a range of shoes that are as comfy as they are conceptual wasn’t easy; it involved the development of the brand’s own materials. Expect eye-catching geometric prints, luxurious leathers and riveted finishes.
So, which of these new-season shoes are we currently crushing on? It’s hard to narrow our lust list down to just a few, but the heels on the Eamz Bliss and Sera Bootie have most definitely got our approval! You can find out more over on United Nude.
