Andreja Pejic Makes her Public Debut, Surprises Jean Paul Gaultier for his Melbourne Exhibition

Andreja Pejic has made her first public appearance in Australia, after undergoing gender transition surgery three months ago, surprising Jean Paul Gaultier for his The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk exhibition at Melbourne’s National Gallery of Victoria.

It’s the Australian supermodel’s first visit home, and Jean Paul welcomed her back from New York with open arms. “I was wondering what they were showing me, telling me something had just arrived from New York,” he told News Limited. “But it is not something, it is someone wonderful.”

Jean Paul has been a fan of Andreja since way back, selecting her for both his men’s and women’s Haute Couture Spring 2011 shows. Now the androgynous blonde is also featuring in his highly acclaimed exhibition, along with several other Aussie muses.

Andreja is looking forward to returning to work, after a few months out of the modelling game, but this time in a different direction. “It’s time for me to be more chic and classic, to work as a woman and to prove my capabilities to do what the other big girls do,” she said.

She’s seems to have “chic and classic” thing covered from the get-go, looking hot as ever in the black mini she rocked for the surprise. And as for her big return to inevitable modelling stardom, well, we can’t wait for that.
