Kim Kardashian Doesn’t Seek Design Advice from Her Designer Pals for Kardashian Kollection Pieces

The Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy is launching its fifth season, proving that no matter how you feel about the exposure the reality family gets, they certainly know how to sell clothes to women. The range includes sexy bodycon frocks punctuated with lace and cheeky cut-outs, a fetching black and white plunging strapless jumpsuit (that Kim was photographed wearing), a few smart blazers rendered in black and white as well as the line’s very first coat option. The clothes are extremely sellable — they’ve got the sort of universally appealing silhouettes women love, but if you think the Kardashians turned to their designer friends for a few pointers on the line, think again.

Vogue U.K. sat down with Kim to discuss her latest for Lipsy, a collection which she says was in no way influenced by the work of her designer pals, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing. Kim admits that unlike her husband, she’s never turned to any of her high-fashion buddies for design tips: “I’ve never asked them, not yet anyway.” Not yet? Does this mean there could be a Riccardo Tisci x Kardashian Kollection special edition range in the works? Who knows. But for now, Kim is very proud of the work she’s done for the line with her sisters.

“The three of us [sisters] have worked really hard on it and I think that the great thing about the differences between us is that our shapes come in useful for designing. Khloe is really tall, obviously, and Kourtney is petite, so I think that if we can make something that suits all three of us, it will look great on anyone.”
