Beyoncé and Topshop Join Forces on New Activewear Venture

You may never wake up in the morning to discover that you’ve switched bodies with Beyoncé, but you’ll soon be able to wear her workout clothes. The singer is gearing up to launch her latest apparel venture, for which she is teaming with the retailer that’s probably outfitted her the most these past few years.

Beyoncé has joined forces with Topshop to create Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd., a company equally owned by Bey and the fast fashion retailer that’s set to produce athletic streetwear. The project is much more than a simple collaboration — it is an actual company, as Topshop owner Sir Philip Green told WWD. The business will be separate from Topshop. It will have its own staff (Green noted they are looking for a creative director and designers) as well as its own office space.

Bey’s new line with Topshop will sell in stores, although Green says that other retailers will carry the collection. Parkwood Topshop Athletic will sell athletic gear of all stripes, from your run-of-the-mill gymwear to dancewear. The clothing, footwear and accessories label will cater both to serious athletes and to those whose workout routine is just a way to pass time between afternoon tea and making dinner plans.

But before you start clearing out your closet to make space for Beyoncé-branded activewear, keep in mind that we probably won’t see the collection until the fall of next year. Until then, you’ll have to find something else to wear to your Beyoncé-themed dance/workout classes.
