Court Rules in Favor of Rihanna in Topshop Infringement Case

Rihanna’s got something to celebrate today as Britain’s Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of the singer in that Topshop lawsuit. RiRi sued the British retailer for selling T-shirts with her likeness without her permission.

The shot was an image of the singer from her “We Found Love” music video, which the courts said was the retailer’s way of “passing off” the shirt as something authorized by Rihanna. The shirt hit Topshop shelves in 2012 and after a long session in court, the decision that the retailer infringed upon RiRi’s rights is final.

We suppose next time Topshop will carefully consider the pros and cons of using any star’s likeness in the future without asking first.
