All good thing must come to an end and the adage rings true for the Kardashian Kollection at Sears. A spokesperson for the retailer confirmed that it would no longer be selling the reality TV sisters’ line, noting that the decision to drop the Kollection was mutual. Call it a conscious uncoupling.
Apparently, the line wasn’t selling so well and was often found on the sale rack. A quick look at the Kardashian Kollection for Sears site and you’ll find deeply discounted pieces; for example, a $59 lace crop top is now selling for $9.99. Sears itself also hasn’t been doing too well, with sales down 7 percent in the last quarter after 11 straight quarters of losses. It seems even the ubiquitous Kardashian brand and family name couldn’t get shoppers excited.
We’re not all that surprised by the news. The clothes weren’t particularly chic and while the Kardashians did sometimes wear pieces from the line, not even their high-end footwear pairings and glamorous hair and makeup crew could make the clothes not look… inexpensive.
Sears stopped carrying the Kardashian line after the holidays. While we can’t say we were huge fans of the Kollection, we will definitely miss seeing the Kardashians traipse around in pieces from their line, acting as if they wear the same kind of low-priced cotton and polyester pieces regular Americans do every day, rather than the finest threads crafted from some of the world’s most celebrated designers. But we guess it was fun for them to pretend, even if it was just for a little while.
UPDATE April 19, 2016: Kardashian Kollection may not be available at Sears, but a few pieces can be found online (and on sale) at Dash, the store owned by Kourtney, Khloé and Kim Kardashian. Pick up the last remnants of the Kardashian Kollection while you can!
And speaking of pretending, the Kardashians’ younger sister Kylie Jenner has finally let the cat out of the bag regarding her lips. Until now, Kylie has claimed that her suddenly-plump pout just looked bigger through the magic of makeup. But in a teaser clip from the upcoming Keeping Up with the Kardashians episode, she admits what we all pretty much suspected: that she also had a little help from a doctor.
“I have temporary lip fillers,” she admitted. “It’s just an insecurity of mine and it’s just what I wanted to do.” Kylie also mentioned that she hid the obvious truth from reporters because of the scrutiny she faces in the public eye. “I might have tiptoed around the truth, but I didn’t lie.” Cue all the hand-wringing and think pieces about a 17-year-old child undergoing cosmetic procedures.
So, next time you find yourself itching to recreate Kylie’s pillowy lip look, just remember it will take a whole lot more than just makeup to get that pout.
