Janice Dickinson Slaps Bill Cosby with a Defamation Suit

Janice Dickinson is not messing around with Bill Cosby. In November of last year, the model came forward to accuse Cosby of raping her back in 1982. Of course, Cosby denied the allegations but Dickinson is not letting him get off so easy. The former model has filed a defamation lawsuit over his denials.

Basically, Dickinson is seeking damages for a statement Cosby’s lawyer Martin Singer made in a letter to the AP in which he calls her rape claims “false and outlandish.” Dickinson’s suit says that her credibility has been tarnished by the denial and as a result, she has been made a victim once again.

Dickinson explained the trauma she’s experienced as a result of the incident to Entertainment Tonight. “Stuffing feelings of rape and my unresolved issue from this incident drove me into a life of trying to hurt myself.” She said that after Cosby performed a show in Lake Tahoe, they went back to her room and the comedian gave her some wine and a pill which knocked her out. She said she woke up without her pajamas and the last thing she remembered was seeing Cosby disrobe and get on top of her.

Like many rape victims, Dickinson did not report the crime at the time. “I was afraid of the consequences,” she said. “I was afraid of being labeled a whore or a slut and trying to sleep my way to the top of a career that never took place.”

Dickinson’s current suit against Cosby also says his denial intentionally caused her more emotional pain. Cosby has not had to answer for his alleged behavior all those years ago in a formal rape trial, but hopefully Dickinson can find some semblance of closure with this new suit.
