Basic Knits on Tap for Uniqlo x Lemaire

Uniqlo is famous for its affordable basics and is continuing the tradition of providing us with chic wardrobe building blocks with its latest collaboration. The retailer has teamed up with former Hermès creative director Christophe Lemaire and Lemaire’s Sarah-Linh Tran for its next LifeWear capsule collection.

And the range certainly lives up to the name. On tap is a selection of simple knits for men and women including pullover sweaters, a scarf, a belted wrap cardigan and more. We’re in the middle of summer, but we’ve got to admit: these lambswool and cashmere pieces definitely have us dreaming up outfits for fall. “Every item combines elegance with moderate relaxation and comfort, for modern, advanced wardrobe mainstays,” Lemaire said of the collection.

The full range is expected to have 30 pieces for women and 25 for men, a feat Lemaire calls “a very interesting exercise,” noting that he and Tran had to really think about the broad demographics they would be dressing. “Uniqlo challenges our conscientiousness as designers because we know we will dress many different people across the world, and therefore we have to be very attentive to proportions and style. It has to fit everybody’s lifestyle and morphology without compromising the style.”

Lemaire x Uniqlo is due to hit shelves in October. Check out a few images from the collection below.
