Taking one look at stunning Indigenous model Samantha Harris, some could think, “What could this girl ever feel insecure about?” But just like every living, breathing person on the planet, the beauty has revealed she too compared herself to others when making personal judgements about her appearance.
The 24-year-old explained that growing up she felt insecure about her full lips, the kind of feature many, including, say, Kylie Jenner, could only dream of being born with. “Wished I had smaller lips like all my friends,” Samantha wrote on her Instagram.
But now, with a modelling career that appreciates distinctiveness, Samantha has learned to love what sets her apart from the rest. “Fast forward 10yrs [sic] and it’s one of the things that makes me stand out,” she continued. “Embrace what makes you unique what makes you stand out from the crowd.”
Using Cindy Crawford‘s beauty spot as a reference point, Samantha makes a totally valid point. Whether it’s Jessica Hart‘s gap-toothed smile, Miranda Kerr‘s dimples or Cara Delevingne‘s amazingly bushy eyebrows, those features you’re born with should be embraced and loved. Who knows? A nice career might even stem from it.
