Diplo Defends Madonna: ‘No One Seems to Want Her to Succeed’

With two top-hit tracks with his flavour on them and a social-media personality everyone loves to hate, a lot of people are buying what Diplo is selling. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for his dear friend Madonna, with Diplo claiming that she’s got the world against her.

Opening up to Rolling Stone, Diplo thinks we are more interested with the popular-culture freshies who aren’t necessarily talented but are being talked about, like the mag’s latest cover girl, Kim Kardashian.

“She created the world we live in,” he explained of her Madge-sty. “It already sucks to be a woman in the music industry, but to be a boss woman is even harder. She sold out her tour in minutes, but no one seems to want her to succeed — ‘Madonna, we’ve been there, done that, now we’re about Kim Kardashian.'”

Having co-produced several of Madonna’s tracks, including her latest “Bitch I’m Madonna”, Diplo thinks it’s not fair game out there for his pal and coworker. “Her song ‘Ghosttown’ was a guaranteed number one for anybody else, but she didn’t get a fair shot. With ‘Bitch I’m Madonna,’ everyone said there’s no way it will go anywhere, but I’m like, ‘Screw it, it represents you more than anything.'”

We don’t know about you, but Madonna still knocks our socks off as she does Diplo’s. We’ll be Vogueing until we can’t Vogue no more.
